Another League Win at NottinghamIn true Warwickshire spirit the County Ladies proved their ability to hold their own on a tricky green when they met Nottinghamshire in the Middle England League and won 117-111.
Highest winning rink went to Chris Cooke with Heather Tredgold (both Southam), Di Medhurst (Stoke) and Jean Williams (Stratford) who started slowly but 4 shots on the 4th end boosted their confidence and there was no looking back as they strolled to a 21-11 win.
Jacqui Cook (Lillington) with Dawn Horne (RLS), Brenda Carlton (Three Spires) and Aleen Shuttleworth (Stoke) started strongly and were 13-1 up at 6 ends but their opponents weren’t to be deterred and started to pull back by winning the next 6 ends but it wasn’t enough and Warwickshire finished strongly 23-14.
Moira Parsons (Welford) with Margaret Grosvenor (Lillington), Helen Harris (Stoke) and Trish Jarvis (Wolvey) started with 6 shots on the first end and although the opposition pulled back to within 4 shots a win for the away team was never in doubt and they finished 27-19.
Maureen Edwards with Yvonne Bromfield (Rugby Thornfield), Margaret Boldy (Avon) and Liz Wooding (Avenue Coventry) were fairly evenly matched all the way through the game and despite a concerted effort at the end were just pipped to the post trailing 15-18.
Jenny Corn with Pat Gagg (both Lillington), Joy Cooke (Blossomfield) and Heather Mills (Grange Ladies) were 6 all at 7 ends but apart from 2 shots on the 9th end struggled to find their way and were 8-24 down at 15 ends before they pulled back to eventually finish 16-24.
Sue Hornsby (Lillington) with Debbie Bloxham (Stratford), Liz Westell and Lynne Innes (both Stratford) started well but their opponents were ready for a fight and took the honours leaving the away team trailing 15-25.
